Meet Our founder

Mario Lopez

In the 1980s, Mario Lopez arrived in the US Pacific Northwest with a dream and a vision of bringing authentic home-style Mexican meals to the region. He founded Tacos El Rey as a Taco-Truck business in Yakima, Washington, and worked hard to develop an effective business model that could be duplicated successfully.

Today, Mario’s brothers and family continue to honor his name and legacy across the region with over 12 Tacos El Rey locations throughout Washington State and Idaho. Mario’s dream has become a reality, and his passion for sharing his culture and cuisine has touched the hearts and taste buds of many. We are grateful for his vision, his hard work, and his dedication to bringing people together through food.
